What is the STAMP Assessment?
The STAMP (Standards-Based Measurement of Proficiency) is computer-based assessment that measures a students' level of proficiency in reading, writing, speaking and listening.
The assessment is aligned to state and national benchmarks for World Languages and can take up to 3 hours to complete.
The assessment is recognized by the Oregon Department of Education as meeting the requirements for the State Seal of Biliteracy if the student demonstrates reading, writing, speaking, and listening at a Benchmark 6 (intermediate-high) or above.
What languages are offered on the STAMP Assessment?
STAMP 4S Assessment : Arabic, French, German, Hebrew, Hindi, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Mandarin (simplified and traditional), Polish, Portuguese (Brazilian), Russian, Spanish
STAMP 3S Assessment: Swahili, Yoruba
STAMP 2S Assessment: Amharic, Armenian, Bengali, Cabo Verdean, Chaldean, Chin (Hakha), Chuukese, Czech, Filipino (Tagalog), Greek, Haitian-Creole, Hawaiian ('Ōlelo Hawai'i), Hmong, Ilocano, Kannada, Marathi, Marshallese, Samoan, Somali Maay Maay, Somali Maxaa, Tamil, Telugu, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Vietnamese, Yup’ik, Zomi

How many credits can students earn on the STAMP assessment?
High school students can earn up to 4 high school elective credits.
If a student has previously earned elective credit for high school world language courses taken in the same language, then STAMP credit will only be granted for proficiency beyond what the student has already demonstrated.
When is the STAMP Assessment offered?
STAMP Assessments are offered several times each school year and are FREE to all NCSD 9th-12th graders. Space is limited, so please register early! Current 8th graders can take the STAMP assessment in June in order to support their transition into high school and determine the best course placement in world language courses.
